Testimonials
“I remember driving home after my first summer at camp and I was full of emotion. I knew that Camp Surefire was something special. Each summer, I learn from each and every camper, and I have the upmost gratitude that I am able to play a small role in keeping campers safe and happy. I’m a better pharmacist because of my time at camp and thirteen years later, I am so thankful to be a part of the Camp Surefire family.”

“I love Camp Surefire because of all the fun things you get to do like campfires, carnival, talent show, and so much more! You get to meet all T1Ds and become friends. You get to have sleepovers with your new friends. I’m super duper extra excited to go back this summer!”
– Emmie, Age 9
“Evelyn has been attending Camp Surefire since 2018. We have seen pictures of the kids having Kona Ice, rock climbing, eating Ali’s Donuts, slip and sliding, enjoying a cookie bake off, fencing, making dirt pies with gummy worms, swimming, and many other fun activities without restrictions. The staff work hard to provide not just a fun environment, but also a safe and supportive one, where kids can enjoy all the activities and feel empowered to manage their health. Evelyn is now a Leader In Training (LIT) and demonstrates the positive impact Camp Surefire has had on her confidence and independence. As parents, it is an incredible feeling of relief to know she’s in a place where she can not only manage her diabetes but also make lasting memories and friendships. We all look forward to camp every year!”

“Camp Surefire has changed my daughter’s life!”
– Darcie, Camp Parent
“My son has been told to look forward to camp ever since he was diagnosed with T1D at age two. At the time, it wasn’t him who needed the promise of normality, it was me. The promise of camp kept me strong over the years. Now, we are approaching his third summer at camp– something he truly looks forward to with friends he’s made for life. We are forever thankful for the experiences offered by Camp Surefire. Nothing about T1D is normal, but for one week out of the year, Camp Surefire makes it feel like it is.”
– Beth, Camp Parent
“Camp Surefire has helped define who my son is as a person with diabetes, but most importantly who he is as a person.”
– Brian, Camp Parent
“I’ll never forget the first year that my son returned from Camp Surefire. He said his favorite part was at the lake when all the other boys took off their shirts to swim and he realized that everyone was like him…they all had devices.”
– Brian, Camp Parent
“Camp Surefire has become an irreplaceable part of our daughter’s diabetes care. Connecting and building lasting friendships with other kids who understand the day-to-day grind of type 1 diabetes has been a powerful experience for her. She always leaves camp feeling confident and empowered to tackle her needs with T1D head on. Camp week has become Anna’s favorite week of the year!”
