Research Internship
Camp Surefire is partnering with the Weight Control and Diabetes Research Center (WCDRC) at The Miriam Hospital/ Brown University Health to sponsor a paid Summer Internship Program for students interested in gaining exposure to behavioral medicine research science.
Program Goals:
To introduce behavioral medicine research to eligible students. Student(s) accepted into the program will receive a combination of hands-on research experiences, professional development education, and personalized mentorship. A $5000 stipend will be provided for student(s) who may otherwise be unable to participate in unpaid volunteer experiences.
Program Schedule:
The internship program will occur for 6-8 weeks during the Summer of 2026. Interns will complete a combination of the following activities:
- Shadowing/volunteering on actual research projects
- Educational workshops
- Introduction to research methods
- DEI training specific to behavioral medicine
- Professional development
- Work on an independent project
Eligibility:
This program was developed specifically for students (ages 18+) who do not have prior experience in research. Selected interns must be able to commit to being an overnight counselor at Camp Surefire (August 22-28, 2026).
