Camp Information

We’re so excited that you are considering joining us at Camp Surefire!

Even though it’s a very exciting process, we also know that being away from home for the first time can be a bit daunting for new campers (and especially their parents/guardians!). Our team does an amazing job ensuring that campers feel comfortable not only on their first day of camp, but throughout the course of the week.

Camp truly is a big family! At Camp Surefire, our campers are cared for as if they are our own kids or our counselor’s younger siblings. Our med staff and dietitians are on site 24/7 ensuring we are all safe, well-fed, and have our BGs in range, while our program staff puts together a week of the most fun and amazing activities for all of us to enjoy!

Every first-year camper has the same important questions: Will I feel comfortable? Will I make friends? Will I like the cabins, the food, and the schedule? We go to great lengths to make sure each camper has everything they need to thrive at camp and before they know it, they will feel part of the Camp Surefire family and see camp as their home away from home!

Preparing Your Child for Sleepaway Camp

Ali Fox, our Executive Director (aka Camp Mom), is available to answer any questions that you or your camper may have about the process or camp week itself. Please don’t hesitate to reach out by phone or email (401-474-1606 or afox@campsurefire.org).

Facilities

Camp Surefire does not own our own campground. Over the years we have rented different camp sites, including more than a decade at URI W. Alton Jones in West Greenwich, RI. When that camp site closed to program rentals like ours, we were lucky enough to land at Camp JORI!

Camp JORI has gorgeous grounds, complete with a low ropes course, basketball courts, playing fields, a rock wall, and more. There are plenty of large indoor spaces if we have any inclement weather – including a huge dining hall, rec center, and 200-seat theatre. There is a modern health center that will house our medical staff in close proximity to the campers. The spacious cabins have electricity and bathrooms. In addition to the lake, there are also two swimming pools that our campers love!

Camp Jori

For summer camp week, we have 10 cabins of campers grouped by age and preferred gender. There are typically 8-10 campers, 4 counselors, and 1-2 Med Staff members assigned to each cabin. The Counselors stay overnight in the cabin with the campers, while the Med Staff are housed in the adjacent Health Center. The Med Staff take turns being on call and monitoring camper BGs overnight with the support of our Counselors.

Please note that Camp JORI runs their own camp program all summer. We will host a Camp Surefire Open House on Sunday, May 3, 2026. If you would like to visit the camp facilities in person, please add that date to your calendar.
