We celebrated this year’s recipient of the David Hennessy Kindness Award at our last campfire on August 27th. This honor is given out each year to a camper who demonstrates the love and kindness that David shared with his camp family. This year, we were proud to honor Bella for her quiet, but not unnoticed, acts of kindness throughout the week.
As one of our med staff noted: “Bella is one of the most easygoing and genuinely kind campers I have ever met. She goes with the flow, is always willing to help, and approaches everything with a positive attitude. She is also incredibly inclusive and makes an effort to ensure that everyone feels welcomed and included. One night, a group of campers moved their beds together and unintentionally left a few campers out. She noticed immediately and invited them over to join the group. It was such a simple gesture, but it showed how naturally she looks out for others and makes sure no one feels left out.”
Bella will receive a full campership for Camp Surefire 2027 in David’s name.
