Camp Surefire is honored to have been selected by the New Venture Fund – Type 1 Diabetes Camps Initiative to receive a three-year grant funded by the Helmsley Charitable Trust and Lilly. The grant includes funds for professional development, capacity building, and camperships.
As part of the professional development funding, I was able to attend the Diabetes Education and Camping Conference in Dallas, TX last week. It was an amazing learning experience to meet with diabetes camp directors from across the country. It was also a great opportunity to thank representatives from NVF, Helmsley, and Lilly for their generous support of Camp Surefire and diabetes camping.
Being at the conference felt like being at camp! And, as my campers all know, one of the best parts of camp is seeing old friends and making new friends! I loved having a chance to catch up with our friend John and his wife Sara from Camp Seale Harris in Alabama. John has come to Camp Surefire for the past two summers as part of our training and rollout of Views EMR. I am also thrilled to have made some fabulous new camp friends from Maine, North Carolina, and more!
